Immerse yourself in the ancient customs of Yucatán with a visit to a Mayan community. This journey offers the chance to witness sacred ceremonies, explore hidden cenotes, and share meaningful experiences with the local residents. Activity Details

Our day will commence with a pick-up from your hotel in Playa del Carmen at the scheduled hour, as we embark on a journey into the heart of the Mexican jungle for an enriching cultural experience in a Mayan village. Prepare yourself for a unique day that nourishes both body and spirit!

Prior to our visit to the village, there will be a brief stop at a local market where you can purchase some coffee and snacks.

The first part of our experience will involve a sacred Mayan ritual conducted by a respected shaman from the community. During this one-hour session, you will participate in an energy cleansing ceremony that includes Mayan prayers, blessings with water, and insights into traditional natural medicine. At the end of the ritual, you will have the opportunity to take home artisanal remedies crafted from local herbs.

Following this enlightening introduction, we’ll undertake a 20-minute hike through the jungle. This experience will connect you directly with nature, allowing you to feel the earth beneath your feet and hear the jungle's soothing sounds as you navigate amidst trees and ancient echoes. Take this moment to inhale deeply and leave your worries behind!

Next, we’ll switch to bicycles for a 1.5-hour ride through the picturesque streets of the town of Xcan. Accompanied by our Mayan guides, you'll discover authentic spots, including the historic church and the local cemetery. This segment of the tour presents a wonderful opportunity to learn about the contemporary Mayan way of life and to connect with the warmth of the community.

Our quest leads us next to a dry cenote, where we’ll spend around 50 minutes exploring its stunning geological features. As we delve into the stories of these sacred sites, you’ll grasp their cultural significance and beauty.

For those eager for thrill, prepare for an exhilarating 59-foot descent (18 meters) using a harness into a cenote with crystal-clear waters. Enjoy an hour of mesmerizing natural beauty and have the option to take a refreshing swim in the depths of this enchanting water.

No outing would be complete without sampling the local cuisine. A warm welcome awaits us at either a family residence or a community center with a pool, where we will indulge in a traditional Yucatecan lunch artfully prepared. This 1.5-hour meal provides a fantastic opportunity to discuss and better understand village life.

As the day winds down, we’ll experience a vibrant presentation of the Jarana traditional dance. Spend an hour watching local performers clad in traditional attire, moving to the rhythm of folkloric music. If you’re feeling inspired, you’re welcome to join in the dance!

After our deep dive into the Mayan culture, we’ll return to Playa del Carmen, concluding our adventure with drop-off at your hotel approximately 11 hours after our pick-up.
