Chachani Volcano Two-Day Expedition

Day 1

Your adventure begins at 7:30 am when we collect you from your hotel in Arequipa in a 4x4 vehicle, setting the stage for our thrilling journey. Our first destination is Pampa Cañahuas, situated at the base of Chachani Volcano, where we will prepare our gear while the guide shares essential advice.

The next two hours will be spent gradually ascending toward our base camp, which rests at an impressive altitude of 17,060 feet (5,200 meters) above sea level. Upon arrival, we'll establish our tents and enjoy a lunch that includes soup and pasta or canned meals.

As night falls, we’ll unwind with a warm herbal tea and prepare for a restful night.

Day 2

Awaken to a new day! Our second day commences at 2 am. After gearing up and ensuring our supplies are ready, we’ll enjoy a hearty breakfast to fuel our climb as the first light of dawn approaches. We will then embark on our ascent to the summit of the Chachani Volcano.

Weather permitting, we aim to reach the summit of Chachani around 5 am following a challenging hike. Here, you will have some free time to grab a snack and take in the breathtaking vistas of the neighboring volcanoes. You'll witness the majestic outlines of Coropuna, as well as the snow-capped silhouettes of Ampato, Hualca Hualca, alongside the active Sabancaya, Misti, and Ubinas volcanoes.

Following our break, we will commence our descent back to base camp, making several stops along the way to rest and recuperate. Once we arrive at our starting point, a jeep will be ready to transport you back to Arequipa, where you can expect to return to your hotel by around 7 pm.
