Our journey begins promptly at 8 am, with a pick-up at your accommodation in Armenia. From there, we will enjoy a scenic drive of approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes to an agricultural farm.

Upon arrival, we will delve into the sugar cane plantations that yield panela, a beloved natural sweetener utilized in various traditional Colombian desserts and drinks, including aguapanela, guarapo, and chicha.

We will gain insight into the intricate production process of panela, learning how the cane is crushed using mills known as trapiches, which ultimately leads to the formation of solid blocks of this sweetener. Local farmworkers will guide us through each step of this fascinating craft.

After absorbing the knowledge of this essential ingredient in Colombian cuisine, we will proceed to a nearby nature park. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy a peaceful hike. Following the hike, feel free to take some time to have lunch and explore the beautiful surroundings at your own pace.

We will return to drop you off at your hotel by 4 pm.
