Journey Through Peruvian History

Your adventure begins at 9:30 am in the Plaza Mayor, where we will embark on a journey lasting an hour and a half to the remarkable Wari Archaeological Complex. Here, you will encounter the remnants of the pioneering Andean civilization, which thrived between the 7th and 13th centuries. A stroll through the on-site museum will unveil a range of intriguing archaeological artifacts. Additionally, we will explore the Templo Mayor, the vestiges of the ancient Wari city, as well as the underground tunnels that once served as burial sites.

Following our exploration, we will head to Quinua, a town renowned within Ayacucho for its rich tradition of crafts and pottery. Here, you will observe how the ancient Wari culture is artistically represented in intricately designed figures of musicians, llamas, and roosters.

Shortly after Quinua, we will visit the Pampas de Ayacucho Historic Sanctuary, the historic site of the Battle of Ayacucho, which marked the conclusion of Spanish colonial rule in the region. For those seeking an extra adventure, horseback riding through the scenic surroundings offers a memorable way to appreciate this significant landscape!

We will conclude our excursion with a return to Ayacucho by 2:30 pm.
