Join us on this excursion to Dresden and Meissen from Berlin, where you will explore the historical heart of the Saxon kingdom, visiting the most iconic landmarks of these two German cities.

Excursion Overview

We will gather at the designated hour in front of Panorama The Wall, conveniently situated near Berlin's notable Checkpoint Charlie, to commence this excursion to Dresden and Meissen.

Our first destination will be Dresden, the historic capital of Saxony. Upon arrival, we will stop at the renowned Semper Opera House and the impressive Zwinger Palace, hailed as prime examples of German Baroque style. Next, we will visit the majestic Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, an awe-inspiring 18th-century sandstone structure.

As we stroll through the heart of Dresden, we'll encounter the Fürstenzug, or the Procession of Princes. Here, you will admire the world's longest mosaic, constructed from 24,000 porcelain tiles, which depict German royalty spanning over 800 years.

After our guided exploration of Dresden, you will have a leisurely 2-hour break, perfect for enjoying lunch at a local Saxon eatery. Once refreshed, we will proceed to Meissen, known as the birthplace of renowned German porcelain.

Upon arrival, our first stop will be the Meissen porcelain factory, a place with a delightful legacy that dates back over three centuries. Here, you will embark on a tour with an English audio guide, which will provide insights into the artistry involved in crafting one-of-a-kind pieces.

Next, we will wander through the charming medieval streets toward the Market Square, where you will find the Town Hall and the Church of Our Lady. We will also ascend the hill where Albert's Castle and Meissen Cathedral are located, both offering stunning vistas of the Elbe River valley.

Finally, we will return to Berlin, concluding our journey at the original meeting point after approximately 12 hours.
