After meeting on Emídio Navarro Av. in Coimbra, you'll be taken to the coastal city of Figueira da Foz, where you'll head straight to Praia da Claridade, one of the favourite beaches of the Portuguese locals.
Stroll along its beautiful golden sands and make the most of the opportunity for some incredible photos, before heading to the area's famous salt flats. You'll visit the Figueira da Foz Salt Museum for an in-depth look into the importance of salt here, as well as discover the salt production process first-hand.
Driving through the expansive corn and rice plantations of Baixo Mondego, you'll reach the Castle of Montemor-o-Velho, where you'll make a stop for around 30 minutes. This Medieval fortress, built between the 10th and 15th centuries, was the residence of Portugal's royal family for many years. Strategically located on a hilltop overlooking the surrounding valleys, its fortified walls witnessed numerous battles between Muslims and Christians. Discover the legends that surround the mythical castle, and decide for yourself if they're true!
For the finishing touch on your Figueira da Foz tour, you'll treat your tastebuds to a typical Portuguese pastry known as a Pastel de Tentúgal. The sweet treat, considered one of the seven wonders of Portuguese cuisine, combines filo pastry, cinnamon, eggs and sugar. Delicious!

HOW IT WORKS?
This tour begins with a meeting point on Emídio Navarro Av. in Coimbra. From there, transportation will be provided to Figueira da Foz. You will visit Praia da Claridade, enjoy the golden sands, and take photos. The next stop will be the Figueira da Foz Salt Museum to understand the salt production process.
Next, you will drive through the Baixo Mondego region, rich in corn and rice fields, until reaching the Castle of Montemor-o-Velho, where you will have a 30-minute guided visit. This historical site is filled with fascinating stories and legends.
The tour concludes with the tasting of a Pastel de Tentúgal. After a day of exploration, the group will be returned to the initial meeting point in Coimbra.
