Desert Lake Exploration

At the designated time, our team will meet you at your accommodation in El Chaltén. From there, we will embark on a scenic journey lasting around one and a half hours, navigating through winding mountain paths, lush forests, and alongside the Río de las Vueltas river until we arrive at the charming Lago del Desierto (Desert Lake).

Upon arrival, we will proceed to the pier where we’ll board a boat that will take us across the tranquil waters of the lake for approximately 30 minutes. As we glide over the soft waves, stunning views of the magnificent Huemul and Crestón glaciers await. This experience promises to leave a lasting impression!

Next, we will visit the remarkable Vespignani Glacier, where you'll have some leisure time to soak in the breathtaking vista of the glacier's ice formations. You might even catch a glimpse of the soaring Mount Fitz Roy!

After our exploration of the glacier, we’ll pause for a moment to enjoy some hot tea and cookies. Following this break, we will make our way back across the Lago del Desierto (Desert Lake) before concluding our adventure back in El Chaltén, approximately 9 hours after our journey began.

Options for a Shorter Tour

If your schedule is tighter, we provide a half-day tour option. This version will feature a condensed itinerary, resulting in reduced free time at the Vespignani Glacier.

Pickup and Timing Details

During the booking process, you can indicate your preference for being collected at your hotel in El Chaltén or opting to make your own way to the Punta Sur dock of Lago del Desierto. The pickup times may differ depending on whether you choose the full or half-day tour.

• Half-day excursion with pickup: While hotel pickup is not available, we will collect you at 11:00 am at Avenida San Martín, 55 (El Chaltén, Santa Cruz, Argentina).
• Full-day tour with pickup: Expect pickup from your hotel in central El Chaltén between 7:30 and 8:00 am.

If you opt for the tour without pickup, please ensure your arrival at the Punta Sur dock of Lago del Desierto by 9:45 am for the full-day excursion and by 12:45 pm for the half-day excursion.
