Lake District Half-Day Tour
Descrição
The Lake District holds the title of the largest national park in the UK. Join us on this half-day excursion from Windermere, where we will immerse ourselves in breathtaking landscapes and witness eight stunning springs—prepare your camera for countless photo opportunities!
Half-Day Tour of the Lake District
Our adventure commences at 2 PM, gathering at Windermere train station. From there, we'll board a minibus ready to delve into the northern region of the Lake District National Park, the country's most expansive national park.
The journey kicks off at the Kirkstone Inn, renowned as the highest inhabited establishment in the park. Here, we are greeted with exceptional vistas of Lake Windermere alongside the charming town of Ambleside.
As we navigate down into the River Rothay valley, you'll catch sight of Brothers Water Lake and pass through the quaint towns of Patterdale and Glenridding. Following this, we will visit the second-largest spring within the region, Ullswater Lake, where you'll learn about its connection to the famous English poet William Wordsworth.
Leaving Ullswater, we head towards Blencathra, one of the prominent hills in the north of the Lake District. Here, the 868-meter-high peak comes into view, and we’ll have the chance to admire the stunning Sharp Edge slopes before exploring the Castlerigg Stone Circle, a significant megalithic site steeped in history and intrigue.
Next, we'll arrive at Derwentwater Lake, the site of two holiday homes owned by the beloved children's author Beatrix Potter. Interestingly, some scenes from Star Wars were also filmed in this picturesque area.
Our route continues to Ashness Bridge, recognized as the most photographed bridge throughout the Lake District. A quick stop at Surprise View will allow us to take in expansive views that showcase Bassenthwaite Lake, the Solway Firth, and the distant peaks of Scotland.
In the concluding segment of our tour, we'll admire the serene Thirlmere lake, traverse the Dunmail Raise mountain pass, and witness the enchanting lakes of Grasmere and Rydal Water. The natural splendor on display is truly remarkable!
This memorable excursion wraps up around 6:20 PM, returning to our initial meeting point.
