San Ignacio Miní

During this day excursion, we will explore the remnants of the San Ignacio Miní reduction, one of the principal missions established by the Jesuit order in the 17th century. These European missionaries journeyed to South America with the goal of converting the local Guaraní Indigenous communities living near the Paraná River to Christianity.

Recognized as the most well-preserved Jesuit reduction in Argentina, San Ignacio Miní showcases the surviving structures of the mission. Highlights include the main square, the church, the Casa de los Padres, various residences, the cemetery, and the chapter house. All buildings are constructed using the distinctive reddish asperon stone found in the region.

Timing: We will depart from Posadas at either 8 am or 2 pm, based on your selection, returning approximately 6 hours later.

Selecting this option means that after our visit to San Ignacio Miní, we will experience an audiovisual presentation centered around the ruins. This show will bring history to life, allowing you to feel connected to the past as the events are portrayed using cutting-edge technology. It will be like stepping directly into the annals of history!
