Activity Overview

Your journey begins with a convenient pickup from your accommodation in San Pedro de Atacama, followed by a short drive of approximately 10 minutes to the entrance of Death Valley, also referred to as Valle de Muerte. Any guesses about the name?

Immerse yourself in this surreal setting, characterized by reddish-hued mountains, unique rock formations, and vast dunes illuminated by the sun of Antofagasta. Upon our arrival, you’ll receive sandboards along with an introductory session to get you started. Let the fun commence!

You'll have 2 hours and 30 minutes to race down the dunes, take your time climbing back, snapping photos, and relishing the tranquil atmosphere of the Atacama Desert. A brief snack break will also be provided.

From the tallest dunes, prepare to be enchanted by breathtaking views of the Licancabur and Láscar volcanoes, keepers of San Pedro de Atacama. Interestingly, Licancabur was revered as a holy site by pre-Hispanic civilizations and still holds traces of ceremonial ruins on its slopes.

Your journey concludes with a return to your hotel, wrapping up this exhilarating 4-hour expedition.

Pickup Information

The pickup service covers hotels within a 5-kilometer (3.1 miles) radius of the heart of San Pedro de Atacama. For accommodations located outside this range or in areas inaccessible by vehicle, we will reach out to arrange an alternative rendezvous point after your booking.

Also, note that pickups are not provided in Ayllus, Solor, Cucuter, or Toconao.
