Day Trip to Surire Salt Flat

Our adventure begins at 7 am as we depart from your accommodation in Putre, heading towards the Las Vicuñas National Reserve. Situated to the south of this protected region, near the Bolivian frontier, lies the remarkable Surire Salt Flat Natural Monument.

As we tour the salt flat, elevated at an impressive 13,927 feet (4,245 meters), we'll encounter one of the predominant habitats for flamingos across South America. This segment of the Andean range is also inhabited by distinctive wildlife such as rheas, vicuñas, alpacas, llamas, and guallatas.

While we strive to view some of these fascinating creatures, our route will take us through varied terrains, including rivers, lagoons, volcanoes, and wetlands at high altitude. A visit to the nearby village of Guallatire, known for its charming church, adds to the experience.

Feeling hungry? We’ll pause for a picnic lunch, featuring sandwiches, dried fruits, chocolates, and natural juices, allowing you to recharge. Once we’re refreshed, we'll continue our excursion to the Polloquere Hot Springs.

After a fulfilling day, we will return to Putre, ensuring you are dropped off at your hotel between 5 and 7 pm.
