Excursion to Valle de Calingasta

Your adventure will commence at 7 am with a convenient pickup from your accommodation in San Juan. Our journey will first lead us to the Cerro Villicum hill, where you will be greeted by breathtaking panoramic vistas.

Continuing our exploration, we will traverse through the town of Talacasto and the notable Quebrada de las Burras gorge. After marveling at this striking geological formation, we will reach the enchanting Calingasta Valley. Here, you will find the picturesque town of Barreal, where a one-hour break is allotted for lunch (not included).

Once revitalized, we will proceed from Barreal to the adjoining El Leoncito National Park. This impressive Andean region within Valle de Calingasta is renowned for its remarkable landscapes. Throughout our visit to the park, we will share intriguing insights about the diverse native wildlife, including the suri cordillerano and the fascinating guanaco, a type of llama.

Next, we will visit the >Astronomical Observatory of El Leoncito, where you will learn about the research conducted on celestial phenomena at this prominent scientific facility. The area's unblemished skies provide optimal conditions for astronomers, being largely free from light pollution. Our final stop will take us to Cerro Alcázar , where you can relish the sweeping views from the summit.

At the conclusion of the day, we will return you back to your hotel in San Juan, arriving around 6 pm.
