Historical Journey through Guatemala

Your day will commence with a pickup from your hotel in Guatemala City at 8 am, setting the stage for our adventure to the colonial heart of Guatemala.

After a drive of about an hour, we will arrive in the center of Antigua Guatemala, making our first stop at Central Park. Here, you will encounter the impressive Palacio de Los Capitanes Generales (Governor's Palace), the historic city council, and the notable San José Church, formerly the main cathedral of the city.

This locale offers a perfect backdrop for photographs, including the renowned Fountain of the Mermaids, a beautiful creation inspired by the Neptune Fountain of Bologna, Italy, built in 1739. This fountain is steeped in myth, as its waters symbolize purity while the mermaids evoke themes of temptation and sin.

Your exploration continues with a visit to the Second Cathedral of Antigua Guatemala, where you can appreciate the striking design contrast between its baroque façade and elegantly smooth columns.

A brief stop will allow you to taste a local traditional dish at a nearby restaurant (cost not included), before we transition to the buzzing atmosphere of the modern city as we embark on a tour of Guatemala City.

Your experience will take us along Avenida Las Américas leading to the city’s heart, where you will see significant governmental structures such as the Supreme Court, Finance Ministry, city council, and the Bank of Guatemala.

The tour will culminate in the Plaza Mayor de la Constitución, home to the grand Catedral Metropolitana, a stunning architectural landmark.

We will return to your hotel in Guatemala City around 5:30 pm, concluding a day filled with discovery.
