Day 1: Huaraz to Hatun Machay

Our journey begins with a pick-up from your Huaraz hotel at the agreed time, setting the stage for an exciting 2-day experience at Hatun Machay, one of Peru's famous stone forests. Are you prepared for this adventure? Let's go!

We'll travel south, passing through picturesque communities including Recuay, Ticapam, and Catac, before veering towards the Cordillera Negra. Once we arrive, we’ll stop at the checkpoint and take a 20-minute walk to arrive at the enchanting stone forest of Hatun Machay, officially recognized as Cultural Heritage of the Nation.

During our exploration, you will encounter cave paintings, petroglyphs, and remarkable rock formations that are sure to fascinate. However, our main focus is the adventure ahead; therefore, we will prepare you for an exhilarating rock climbing experience in this spectacular environment.

With climbing routes ranging from 15 to 60 meters (50 - 196 feet), Hatun Machay offers challenges suitable for all skill levels. Your experienced guide will ensure you climb safely and fully enjoy this outdoor sporting escapade.

After an exhilarating day of climbing, we will head to the base camp, where a delicious dinner awaits. Then, you can rest for the night in comfortable tents. It's time to rejuvenate!

Day 2: Hatun Machay to Huaraz

On the following day, after enjoying breakfast, we'll venture back to the stone forest for another climbing session. Subsequently, we'll board our minibus for the journey back to Huaraz, with an estimated drop-off time at your hotel around 2 pm.

This excursion includes one night of camping in tents, nestled within the remarkable stone forest of Hatun Machay.
