5-Day Amazon Rainforest Expedition
Day 1
Your adventure begins with a pickup at your hotel in Iquitos, followed by a scenic boat journey to our jungle accommodations. Along the way, we'll pause to encounter some of the remarkable wildlife found in this region. Be on the lookout for piranhas, turtles, and lizards! After this, a delightful buffet lunch will be served, giving you time to relax.
Later in the day, we will visit the local village of Timicurillo to learn about the community's way of life and how they incorporate local plants into their medicinal practices. After dinner, if you're feeling adventurous, a guided night walk in the jungle awaits you!
Day 2
The second day kicks off with a visit to Neyser Island and its reptile sanctuary, giving you a chance to observe magnificent anacondas along with other intriguing wildlife, including monkeys and sloths.
Next, we will take a short boat ride to the village of San Juan de Huashalado to explore the "El Encanto de Rony" rescue center. Here, you can expect to encounter various creatures, including mambas, anacondas, sloths, toucans, and colorful parrots.
Following our wildlife exploration, we’ll sample unique aphrodisiac beverages such as Rompe Calzón, 7 Raíces, and others. We’ll also delve into medicinal drinks featuring ingredients like Camú Camú and copaiba oil, which are known for their healing properties.
In the afternoon, we will navigate the Amazon River in boats or canoes, engaging in some fishing while enjoying a spectacular sunset. Dinner will be accompanied by fascinating tales of the Amazon.
Day 3
Our third day begins with an exciting adventure along the Yanayacu River. We’ll travel by boat to the community of San Juan de Huashalado, crossing through the "black waters" in a traditional canoe.
In this untouched paradise, you'll have the chance to see native Amazon species and perhaps even swim with the famous pink river dolphins if conditions allow! After this incredible experience, lunch will be served at a local farmer's home.
A stunning sunset over the Amazon awaits us before we head back to camp for a satisfying dinner and a peaceful night.
Day 4
On day four, early risers can join an optional 4 am sunrise walk, an unforgettable way to witness the stunning sunrise over the Amazon. Afterward, we will gather for a hearty breakfast before continuing our expedition.
Our journey takes us on a picturesque boat ride along the Amazon River to the lively community of Sinchicuy. Here, we’ll visit the indigenous Yagua tribe to gain insights into their culture, then proceed to the nearby San Rafael community. We will also stop at the Morphohuasi butterfly farm as part of our exploration of local ecology.
After dinner, a stroll will be offered for those who missed the sunrise event, concluding the day on a tranquil note.
Day 5
On the final day of our Amazon exploration, we will head to Monkey Island, where you’ll have the opportunity to interact with these playful animals and visit a plantation focusing on medicinal plants and fruits.
This journey wraps up with a farewell lunch at the lodge before departing for Iquitos, returning around 4 pm.
