Safari Overview

At the scheduled time, our team will pick you up from your accommodation. We'll then board a safari truck for a scenic 40-minute drive towards the city of Higüey.

Upon arrival, the lively traditional market of Higüey will greet us. Spend 45 minutes exploring an array of vibrant stalls filled with fresh fruits, vegetables, and local meats before we visit a cigar factory to discover the intricate process behind this esteemed Dominican product.

Afterward, we’ll return to our vehicle to continue the safari through the sugar cane fields of Bayahibe. We will delve into the various uses of the sugar cane plant and gain insight into the lifestyle of those living within the surrounding communities. Furthermore, you will learn about the trapiche system, a remarkable process that converts sugar cane into exquisite Dominican rum.

Next, we’ll journey deep into the lush Dominican jungle and arrive at a traditional ranch, where a delightful lunch awaits by the riverside. Indulge in local delicacies such as cocoa, manioc, tropical fruits, and even Dominican salami. A drink option is included, allowing you to choose between a soft drink, rum, or water.

Before making our way back to La Romana, enjoy a serene ride in a small boat along the river, surrounded by lush greenery. If you wish, take a refreshing dip in the cool river waters.

Your adventure will conclude with us returning you to your hotel after a fulfilling 8.5-hour experience.
