Nocturnal Hike at the Frog Sanctuary

Your journey begins with a pick-up from your hotel in La Fortuna at 5 PM, followed by a scenic 30-minute drive to La Tigra. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by the Méndez family, who will share insights into their efforts to foster the natural restoration of local flora and fauna on their land.

Next, you will enter a stunning wetland forest, where you will have the chance to witness the vibrant nocturnal activities of amphibians, insects, birds, and mammals that thrive in this diverse environment.

As you meander along the banks of the lagoons, you will reach the frog sanctuary. Here, you can observe fascinating species such as the extraordinary glass frog and the notable red-eyed tree frog. Additionally, you will encounter the largest and smallest frog species found in Costa Rica: the bullfrog and the hammerhead frog.

After immersing yourself in the captivating wildlife of Costa Rica, your hiking adventure will culminate in a mouthwatering dinner prepared in a traditional wood-fired oven while taking in the breathtaking views of the illuminated San Carlos plain at night.

Following this unique experience, you will bid farewell to the Méndez family and head back to your hotel in La Fortuna, arriving around 9 PM.
