Tour Details

Our meeting point is set at the Orden Tercera Church, a significant landmark in La Seca, Valladolid, now serving as an events center.

From this location, we will make our way to the Javier Sanz Viticultor Winery vineyards, located just a 10-minute drive from La Seca. Participants will need to travel in their own vehicles while following the guide's car.

We will arrive at Pago de Saltamontes, a picturesque estate, where we will have the opportunity to explore a pre-phylloxera vineyard. Are you familiar with its significance? Let’s find out together as we walk through these remarkable vines, aged over 150 years. During our visit, we’ll uncover fascinating insights into the cultivation of the Verdejo grape, a prominent variety in the Rueda DO region.

As we wander through the vineyards, we will discover the heritage of the Javier Sanz Winery and gain an understanding of their winemaking process. We will also discuss the dedicated efforts made to revive extinct grape varieties undertaken by the winery.

After this enlightening exploration, we will drive back to the Orden Tercera. At this historic 18th-century church in La Seca, we will watch a brief video showcasing the history of the Javier Sanz Winery.

Finally, we will wrap up this 1.5-hour wine tourism journey in the tasting room of the Orden Tercera. Here, participants will indulge in a tasting of 4 wines from the winery, complemented by cured meats or cheeses served with breadsticks. For guests under 18, refreshing water will be provided alongside the option to try the cured meats or cheeses. A delightful way to conclude this enriching tour!
