Guided Tour of Lettere Castle

At the scheduled time, we will convene at the main entrance of Lettere Castle to initiate our guided exploration of this historical fortress located in the Campania region.

Prior to entering the structure, visitors will encounter the remnants of the hermitage dedicated to Our Lady of Succour situated before this stronghold. The ancient bell tower, adorned with grey tuff and yellow sandstone, stands in striking contrast to the distant Lattari Mountains. This site serves as a vantage point overlooking the Gulf of Naples, prominently featuring Mount Vesuvius in the backdrop.

After our visit to the chapel, we will proceed to Lettere Castle, which was established in the 10th century under the auspices of the Duchy of Amalfi. Our tour will commence in the Courtyard of Weapons and the Keep. Within this watchtower, a museum awaits where we can delve into the history of the families that occupied the fortress.

The guided exploration continues at the Torre del Trigo (Wheat Tower), where another museum displays bronze and ceramic artifacts uncovered during the archaeological digs surrounding the castle.

Ultimately, after an engaging hour and a half of discovery, our tour will come to a close at the original meeting point.
