Descrição
The name Limoges is synonymous with the exquisite art of porcelain. By securing a ticket to the National Porcelain Museum, visitors are granted access to the largest exhibition of this renowned ceramic in the French city.
What to expect
In 1768, the discovery of kaolin, a vital clay for porcelain production, near Limoges marked a turning point in European ceramics. This unique clay unlocked the secret of China's famous translucent white ceramics, positioning Limoges porcelain as a global benchmark in the art form.
The Adrien Dubouché National Porcelain Museum boasts the most extensive public collection of Limoges porcelain in the world, along with other ceramics from various cultures. This impressive exhibition features over 18,000 pottery works, showcasing the evolution of ceramic art from Antiquity to contemporary times.
Housed in an Italian-style palace constructed in the early 1990s, this four-room gallery has become one of the city's primary attractions.
