Maputo Special Reserve Tour

Our adventure begins bright and early at 6:00 am as we depart from 417 Kwame Nkrumah Avenue, leaving behind the bustling capital of Mozambique.

Traveling in a 4x4, we will navigate through Catembe and several charming towns in southern Mozambique. After approximately two hours on the road, we will reach Puerta Futi, the main gateway to the expansive Maputo Special Reserve (please note, the entrance fee of 15 US dollars per person is not included).

As we step into this vast protected area, spanning 77,400 hectares, our safari experience will commence. You’ll have the opportunity to observe an impressive array of native African wildlife, including elephants, antelopes, giraffes, and impalas, all in their natural environment. The reserve is also rich in avian life, offering the chance to spot numerous birds throughout our tour.

The initial segment of our journey will conclude with a relaxing light lunch by Lake Munde, where we can appreciate the variety of birds soaring above the lagoon.

Following our meal, we will continue our safari towards Lake Xinguti. Here, we will pause at the water’s edge to enjoy a coffee while observing the hippos and wading birds that frequent the area.

As our day draws to a close, we will return to Maputo, with an estimated arrival around 2:30 pm. To enrich the return journey, we will host an engaging quiz on African wildlife aboard the truck. Who will emerge as the wildlife expert from our explorations in the reserve?
