Saona Island Excursion: What to Expect

At the scheduled time, we'll pick you up from your hotel to commence our tour. We'll proceed to Bayahibe, where we'll board a catamaran bound for our destination: Saona Island, nestled within the Cotubanamá National Park.

We'll have fun and dance to traditional music throughout our cruise, enjoy lively interactions with our onboard guides, and revel in the vibrant atmosphere. With an open bar stocked with water, soft drinks, and the renowned Dominican rum, everybody is bound to have an excellent time.

Upon arrival at Saona Island, we'll have some free time to swim, unwind on the beach, and soak in the lively Dominican music. If you get hungry, you can enjoy a buffet lunch!

After the fun, we'll return to the boat for the journey back. We'll take a scenic route around the island, known for its coconut trees and beautiful golden sand. We'll also have a stop to swim in crystal-clear natural sea pools, where we might glimpse sea stars and fish, creating a colorful spectacle. Plus, you can continue enjoying the open bar onboard. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride, and don't forget to admire the landscape!

Finally, we'll reach the Bayahibe pier, from where we'll drop you back to your hotel. Anticipate arriving back at your hotel after a 9 to 12-hour adventure.

Hotel Pickup

Pickup is available from different destinations in the southeast of the Dominican Republic such as Punta Cana, Cap Cana, Bávaro, and Úvero Alto. Depending on availability, we may be able to pick you up in other areas as well. During the booking process, let us know where you're staying, and we'll either pick you up there or establish an alternative meeting point as close as possible to your accommodation.

Saona Island Beach Tour

For a more relaxed and leisurely visit to Saona Island, you can choose the Saona Island Beach Tour.

Additional Information

Please note that seeing starfish is not guaranteed as they are in their natural habitat.
We'll use both catamarans and speedboats for the trip, you can opt to go by speedboat and return by catamaran, or vice versa.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

During the tour, you will be picked up from your accommodation and taken to Bayahibe, where you'll board a catamaran headed to Saona Island. Onboard, enjoy entertainment and an open bar as we cruise. Upon arrival, there will be opportunities to swim, relax, and enjoy a buffet lunch. On the return journey, there may be stops for swimming in natural sea pools.

Meeting Point

Pickup will be organized from various hotels in Punta Cana, Cap Cana, Bávaro, and Úvero Alto. If you are staying outside these areas, alternative arrangements will be made as necessary.

Informações importantes

Hotel Pickup

Pickup starts at the first hotel of the route at 7:30 am, so you can have breakfast at your hotel. However, the local team will contact you to establish the exact pickup time for each hotel in advance, except for the following:

Hotel Cortecito Inn and Punta Cana Princess: pickup will be at 7:20 am

Once you know the exact pickup time, please be ready at the front desk 10 minutes in advance to avoid delays in the tour.

Please note that pickup from the Bahia Principe (all hotels), Ocean El Faro, and Melía resort hotels will be at the main entrance of the complex, at the security checkpoint. Clients must stay inside the complex and will be called by their name and last name.

For the rest of the hotels, pickup will be inside the hotel, in their usual places (lobby, meeting point, etc.), although the exact place and pickup time will be informed.

Please note that if you're staying in an Airbnb or a small hotel, we'll provide a meeting point for pickup.

Additional Information

We recommend bringing your swimwear, lightweight clothing, beach footwear, and a waterproof camera if you enjoy underwater photography. Don't forget to bring sunscreen and a hat or cap for protection.
Please remember that starfish are in their natural habitat, and while we aim to provide opportunities to see them, we cannot guarantee their presence.
We'll use both catamarans and speedboats for the trip, you can opt to go by speedboat and return by catamaran, or vice versa.
We recommend having a hearty breakfast before carrying out the activity.
Please be aware that during the excursion, the catamaran team offers caps for purchase at an additional cost, and it's entirely optional whether you choose to buy them. Similarly, on the beaches of Saona, local residents who sell coconut water or handicrafts may also offer various products, and it's entirely up to you whether you wish to make a purchase or not.
The tour package does not include the photography service offered during the activity. If you wish to hire this service, please ensure that your contact information, including your email, is accurate to receive the photos after the activity. Additionally, we recommend confirming the price and the number of photos you will receive before finalizing the service.
Children may be asked to prove their age with an ID (a photo of their passport is valid).
