Tour Details

At the scheduled time, our guide will pick you up from your hotel to commence the tour of Recife and the Ricardo Brennand Institute. This full-day excursion lasts for 7 hours, immersing you in the narrative of the city famously known as the “Brazilian Venice,” founded in the 16th century.

Your journey will begin with a contrasting view of modern developments alongside the historic center. Notable stops include Cais José Estelita with its scenic viewpoint over the Pina basin and a visit to the Five Points Fort, a military structure dating back to 1630.

Next, we will visit Republic Square, where the architectural sophistication of the Palace of Justice, the Palace of the Fields of the Princesses, and the Santa Isabel Theater is on display. Close by, the Golden Chapel awaits as one of the finest examples of Baroque-Rococo art in the country.

Our itinerary continues at the House of Culture, a cultural hub for regional handicrafts established in a former prison on the banks of the Capibaribe River. Shortly after, we’ll pass by Recife Central Station, home to Brazil’s first railway museum, before exploring the charming Aurora Street and Old Bridge.

Following this exploration, a scenic drive through the neighborhoods of Casa Forte and Poço da Panela will lead us to the pinnacle of our tour: the Ricardo Brennand Institute, affectionately called the Brennand Castle. This renowned complex is celebrated as one of the premier museums in South America.

Inside, we will navigate through its replica medieval castle and lush gardens. The museum's collection features works by notable painters including Frans Post, Jean-Baptiste Debret, and Eliseu Visconti. Additionally, you will find French tapestries, English furniture, and one of the largest collections globally of bladed weapons and medieval armor.

The tour concludes after 7 enriching hours, at which point we will transport you back to your hotel in Recife.
