Birdwatching at the San Rafael Estate

For bird enthusiasts, this birdwatching excursion at a private nature reserve is an unmissable experience. We will embark on a hiking path to observe a variety of birds native to the Chaco province in Argentina.

Birdwatching Experience at the Private Nature Reserve

The adventure begins at 9:30 am, meeting at the Estancia San Rafael, a well-known protected area situated just outside of Resistencia.

Here, we will set off on a moderate hiking trail lasting approximately two hours, covering a distance between 3 and 8 kilometers (2 to 5 miles), subject to the group's pace and weather conditions.

As we hike, we’ll have the chance to witness numerous endemic bird species. This northern region of Argentina’s Chaco is rich in wildlife, featuring toucans, cardinals, and red-footed chuñas. We will learn identifying characteristics by observing their beak shapes and feather colors.

With favorable conditions, there may also be sightings of various hawks and aquatic bird species, including the ipequí and sirirí duck. The optimal conditions of the local ecosystem are conducive to supporting these diverse animals.

We will conclude our hike by returning to the meeting point, arriving back around 11:30 am.

For added convenience, you can opt for hotel pickup in Resistencia between 8:20 am and 8:30 am. We'll begin our birdwatching adventure at 9:30 am after reaching the reserve.

Once the trip comes to an end, we will take you back to your hotel in Resistencia, arriving around 12:30 pm.
