Tour Overview

Our day begins early as we gather at your accommodation in Rio, ready to head towards Brazil’s royal heritage. After approximately a two-hour bus ride, we will reach Petrópolis, situated 68 kilometers away from the bustling city.

Upon arrival, a guided exploration awaits, where we will uncover the quintessential landmarks of this historic city, which served as a summer refuge for the royal family in the 19th century. This area was established by Dom Pedro II as a homage to his father, Dom Pedro I.

Your visit will include the Imperial Museum, the previous home of the Brazilian Imperial Family, where a variety of rooms showcase items such as garments, furniture, and exquisite jewels once belonging to the Orleans and Braganza houses.

Other notable sites include the enchanting Crystal Palace, a remarkable iron and glass structure that played a key role in the liberation of the last slaves in the city in 1888. Furthermore, we will take in the beauty of São Pedro Cathedral and the magnificent Quitandinha Palace, recognized as the largest palace in Brazil and one of the most significant in Latin America.

After this deep dive into Brazil's heritage, you will enjoy some free time for lunch and a leisurely walk amidst the city's elegant architecture before we make our way back to Rio de Janeiro. The entire excursion lasts approximately 10 hours.

Tour + Lunch Option

When making your reservation, you can opt for the version that includes lunch. By choosing this option, after our guided tour in Petrópolis, we will indulge in a delightful buffet lunch to refresh ourselves.

Lunch + Bohemia Brewery Tour

Alternatively, you can select the tour that adds a visit to the Bohemia Brewery, established in 1853 by the German entrepreneur Henrique Kremer. This stop will provide insights into the production of Brazil’s inaugural Pilsen beer.

This particular option is available Thursday through Sunday only.

Pickup Information

The excursion includes hotel pickup from the South Zone (Leblon, Ipanema, Copacabana, Leme, Botafogo, and Flamengo) as well as from designated meeting points in downtown Rio de Janeiro. If your location differs, please reach out so that we can coordinate an alternative pickup point.
