Bicycle Tour of Santa Maria di Leuca

Join us on this bicycle journey through the breathtaking cape of Santa Maria di Leuca, where we'll explore the fascinating history and stunning scenery at the southernmost tip of the Salento peninsula. It promises to be a memorable experience!

Tour Overview

Our adventure begins at Torre di Salignano, where we'll mount our bicycles and set off to explore the wonders of Santa Maria di Leuca. This region was famously referred to as Finibus Terrae (Land's End).

We will embark on a 15-kilometre (9.3-mile) ride, starting with a visit to the Defence Tower, a historical structure built to safeguard the area from Saracen invasions. Next, we'll pedal inland through picturesque villages, tranquil farms, and serene paths filled with natural beauty.

Our journey will take us to Patù, where we will explore the famed Centopietre (Hundred Stones). Are you curious about the historical significance of this enigmatic megalithic site? We’ll share fascinating insights about this legendary landmark.

Continuing our ride, we will visit the medieval fortress of Giuliano, notable for preserving much of its original architecture. Our next destination is Barbarano, home to the Santuario di Leuca Piccola, a sacred site that once served as a haven for pilgrims.

We will conclude our bicycle tour with a delightful stop at the Antica Locanda Retró, where participants can savor a glass of wine accompanied by a selection of local cheeses.
