This excursion to Lipica offers a unique opportunity to discover one of Slovenia's oldest horse farms and the breathtaking Škocjan Caves, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Excursion to Lipica Horse Farm & Škocjan Caves

Your journey begins at the prearranged meeting location in Trieste, from where we will travel to an historic stud farm in Lipica. Here, you will delve into the fascinating world of the Lipizzaner horses, renowned for their grace and beauty.

Upon our arrival, we will take time to wander through the farm, nestled amidst beautiful chestnut and oak trees. You'll gain insight into the rich history of the white Lipizzaner horse and uncover the longstanding tradition of breeding these noble creatures, a practice that has thrived for over 400 years.

After touring the breeding facilities, our path leads us to the Lipikum Museum, where you’ll uncover unique aspects of this horse breed. If the timing is right, you might even witness an equestrian performance (this is not part of the package).

Following our visit to the farm, we will proceed to the Škocjan Caves, celebrated as one of the largest underground canyons globally and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As we navigate through the caves, you'll be awed by stunning stalactites, thundering rapids, and serene lakes. A highlight of this experience will be crossing a bridge 40 meters above an underground river, offering stunning views of the canyon below!

Before we conclude our adventure and return to Trieste, we will also explore the Škocjan Caves Regional Park, where a leisurely walk will reveal extraordinary geological and archaeological sites.

After approximately five hours of exploration, we will make our way back to our starting point in Trieste, wrapping up a memorable day.
