Day 1: El Jem – Matmata – Douz

Your adventure begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel. We proceed to the extraordinary amphitheater of El Jem, a renowned Roman structure recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, you will uncover the history behind the intense gladiatorial conflicts that once captivated audiences. Our exploration continues as we travel into the interior, where we will visit the fascinating cave dwellings of Matmata, ingeniously built into the rock to protect against sand storms.

Following a leisurely hour for lunch in Matmata, we venture into the breathtaking Douz desert. This picturesque landscape of dunes offers opportunities for an optional camel or quad bike ride available at an additional cost. We conclude our day in Douz, where you can unwind, enjoy dinner, and spend the night in a local hotel.

Day 2: Douz – Chott Djerid – Oasis – Kairouan

After breakfast in Douz, our journey takes us to Chott Djerid, home to its famous salt lake. Following this, we travel to the Atlas mountains to admire the verdant oases of Chebika and Tamerza.

We will take a lunch break before proceeding to the sacred city of Kairouan, where the stunning Great Mosque awaits, topped with its impressive domes.

As our wonderful adventure comes to a close, we return to the capital, where you will be dropped off at your selected hotel for the night.
