Chilean Cooking Class & Lunch in Valparaíso

Our adventure begins at 10 am in Sotomayor Square, right in front of the Valparaíso Fire Brigade headquarters. From this central meeting point, we'll take the metro towards the vibrant area of Caleta Portales. Here, we will gather the ingredients necessary to craft a sumptuous Chilean ceviche.

Our first stop is a fresh fish stall, where we'll procure the primary elements for our dish. Next, we will proceed to either the Cardonal Market or the bustling Produce Fair on Avenida Argentina. At one of these locations, we'll select fresh vegetables and lemons essential for concocting a delicious pisco sour, the iconic Chilean cocktail sure to delight your senses. Additionally, seasonal fruits will be picked for a sweet dessert.

Following our market visits, we’ll head to a quaint botillería, a specialized shop known for its wide variety of liquors and spirits. Here, we will choose a bottle of local wine to complement our upcoming meal. Our journey continues as we make our way to a welcoming private home on Santo Domingo Hill, where a local Valparaíso family will guide our cooking experience.

During the class, you will gain insight into preparing a traditional Chilean ceviche, served alongside pisco sour and authentic bread pancakes known as churrascas. While enjoying your freshly prepared meal paired with excellent local wine, the hosting family will share stories about Valparaíso’s culinary heritage and traditions.

Once lunch concludes, we will take the metro back to our original meeting spot, with our farewell set for 2 pm.
