Nova Petrópolis Day Trip
Description
Discover the intriguing history of German immigration in Rio Grande do Sul by embarking on an enriching day trip to Nova Petrópolis. As we walk through its charming streets, you will encounter the significant monuments that narrate this story!
Details of the Day Trip
Your adventure begins at the designated meeting point in Canela or Gramado, depending on your choice during the booking process, before we journey towards Nova Petrópolis.
The first German immigrants settled in Nova Petrópolis in 1858, arriving from Pomerania, Bohemia, and Saxony. Upon our arrival, we will delve into this historical context at Pedras do Silêncio (Sculpture Park Silent Stones), reflecting on the intricacies of the immigration saga. Following this, we will visit Aldeia do Imigrante, where you can gain insights into the arrival of these settlers.
Next, we will relax at Praça das Flores, also known as Praça da República, where you will admire the exquisite greenery surrounding the area. To further enjoy the natural splendor of Nova Petrópolis, we'll explore the Green Maze, navigating through the towering cypress trees.
The journey continues to Casa Sander, situated in an area historically influenced by Bohemian immigrants. Here, you will have the chance to savor a selection of delights from this quaint family-run agribusiness, including three types of jellies served with crackers, toast, juice, and tea.
Afterward, we will visit Jardim do Moinho, a picturesque natural setting where history intricately intertwines with gastronomy. Additionally, a stop at a local cosmetics shop awaits, featuring products crafted from rosehip oil.
Our memorable day trip to Nova Petrópolis concludes 9 hours later when we return to the original meeting point.
