Kuelap Fortress Day Excursion

Upon collection from your accommodation at the scheduled time, we will depart from Chachapoyas and journey south towards Nuevo Tingo. Once we arrive, we will board the cable car that will transport us on a 20-minute ride up to the stunning Kuelap, an ancient settlement perched in the high-altitude Amazonian Andes.

As we near our destination, you'll be captivated by the impressive 20-meter high stone walls that stand resilient amidst cliffs, surrounded by the lush Peruvian Amazon. A brief uphill walk of approximately 20 minutes will lead us to the Kuelap architectural complex.

Upon arrival, we will delve into the site and uncover the intriguing circular structures dating back to the 5th century AD, including El Tintero (Inkwell), the Templo Mayor (Main Temple), and the Torreón (Tower). Kuelap proudly stands as the largest archaeological site of pre-Incan civilizations in Peru!

Following our exploration, we will pause to enjoy a meal at a local restaurant, featuring a menu that includes soup and a main dish of your choice—chicken, fish, or beef.

Concluding our adventure, we will descend via cable car back to Nuevo Tingo. We will then return to Chachapoyas, ensuring you are back at your hotel approximately 9 hours after the start of the trip.
