Embark on a captivating journey through the Water Route, visiting Chaves, Vidago, and Verin, where you'll uncover the therapeutic qualities of the mineral-rich waters found on the Iberian Peninsula.

Tour Overview

Your adventure begins with a pickup service from your hotel at the scheduled time. You will board a minibus to set off on an exhilarating exploration of the Portuguese Water Route.

Our first destination will be Vidago, a quaint village celebrated for its medicinal waters, often recommended for ailments such as gout and diabetes. Here, participants will explore the spa and sample the local mineral water, which has been flowing since 1886.

Next, we will return to Chaves, the administrative center of the Alto Tâmega region, historically known as Aquae Flaviae in Roman times, highlighting the significance of its waters in health and wellness. We'll visit the ancient Roman baths, famed for their effectiveness in alleviating conditions like rheumatism and skin issues due to their high silica content. After the tour, enjoy some free time for lunch, during which you may wish to try the local delicacy, the Chaves cake.

Following our break, the journey continues as we follow the Water Route, crossing into Spain to see the castle of Monterrey, a stunning fortress-palace dating back to the 10th century. Our next stop is the picturesque Galician town of Verin, recognized for its natural springs that supply water sold throughout the Iberian Peninsula, including brands like Cabreiroa, Fontenova, and Sousa. Here, we will visit its spas and have the chance to sample these waters, along with those from Fonte do Sapo and Caldeliñas.

We will conclude our excursion and return you to your hotel approximately 6 hours after the initial pickup.
