Tour Details
After collecting you from your accommodation in Akureyri at the agreed time, we will commence our exploration of the essential highlights within the Diamond Circle. Notable destinations include Dettifoss, Húsavík, Lake Mývatn, and the stunning Ásbyrgi Canyon.
Our first location will be the magnificent Goðafoss, often referred to as the "Waterfall of the Gods". While it may not hold the title for the largest waterfall in the nation, its beauty is unquestionable and draws many visitors.
We will then journey to Lake Mývatn, surrounded by an active volcanic landscape. Here, you will experience Hverir, Iceland's most vigorous geothermal area. The air will be filled with the pungent scent of sulfur as steam billows from the earth. Our next stop will be the Viti crater, located close to the imposing Krafla Volcano.
Subsequently, we will make our way to the magnificent Dettifoss Waterfall, a highlight of our excursion. As you take in the sight of this majestic waterfall, situated in a secluded area, you'll be engulfed by the sound of 200 cubic meters of water cascading every second.
Continuing our adventure, we will traverse the stunning Jökulsárgljúfur Canyon towards the enchanting Vesturdalur Valley. Here, you will encounter the well-known Whispering Cliffs, or "Hljóðaklettar" as referred to in Icelandic. Marvel at the unique volcanic structures shaped by time, resembling intricate beehives.
As we near the end of our exploration, we will arrive at the crescent-shaped Ásbyrgi Canyon, a site steeped in folklore where Pagan gods are said to have convened. Following this, we'll proceed to the vibrant town of Húsavík, where you'll enjoy some free time to relax with a drink in one of its charming cafés.
Concluding our adventure, we will head back to Akureyri, wrapping up our full-day tour after approximately 9 hours of discovery.
