The saying “You only die when you've been forgotten” embodies the spirit of the Día de los Muertos festivities on November 1. Experiencing the atmosphere firsthand transcends any explanation. We will gather at the designated hour at the Plaza de los Niños Héroes in Morelia to commence an unforgettable evening tour across the beautiful state of Michoacán.

Our first destination is the charming town of Tupátaro, where we will marvel at the exquisite altars of the Day of the Dead. Here, the living honor their deceased loved ones with heartfelt tributes, incorporating candles, skulls, and vibrant flowers around their photographs.

Next, we will proceed to the adjoining town of Cuanajo. This location also features stunning offerings to those who have passed, with a highlight being the traditional wooden horse offering, set beautifully in the town's main square.

Following our exploration of Cuanajo, we will journey to Tzurumutaro to visit its significant cemetery. Here, we will observe how friends and families gather to care for their deceased. Contrary to common assumptions, this night is filled with joy, allowing the living to reunite with their loved ones in a celebratory atmosphere featuring music and dance that lasts into the early hours.

Our adventure continues as we head to the Ucasanastacua pier, where we will board a boat to sail to the island of Pacanda. This location will offer us a chance to witness numerous rituals and ceremonies associated with the celebration of the dead, steeped in the rich traditions of the Purepécha culture.

At the conclusion of our tour, we will return by boat to Ucasanastacua dock and then transport you back to the meeting point in Morelia, with an estimated arrival time of around 15 hours later.
