On this 2-day trip to Playa Las Peñas, you'll immerse yourself in a natural paradise. Experience the thrill of sailing in search of majestic humpback whales and enjoy camping under the stars. This journey is designed for those who seek adventure in nature!

2-Day Trip Details

Day 1

At the scheduled time, we'll meet at the pickup point in Morelia, from where our approximately 4-hour journey to the coast of Michoacán begins. Let's set off!

Upon arriving in the town of La Mira, we’ll have a stop for lunch. Following this, we will proceed to Playa Las Peñas, an ideal location for humpback whale watching. With its rugged coastline adorned with massive boulders, this area is perfect for observing these magnificent whales from November to March.

Boarding a speedboat, we'll embark on our quest to find humpback whales, allowing you to witness them up close. During our expedition, you might also see other marine life such as dolphins, sea lions, and turtles.

After a 1 to 2-hour speedboat ride, we'll return to Playa Las Peñas, where your campsite for the night awaits. You'll have time to relish the beach under a starry sky, enjoy dinner at a nearby restaurant, and fall asleep to the soothing sound of the ocean.

Day 2

Awakening to the gentle sound of crashing waves and a refreshing sea breeze is a perfect start. From sunrise, you'll have the entire morning to enjoy the beach at your leisure. You can sunbathe on the sand, swim in the sea, or simply unwind in this tranquil setting. It’s a taste of paradise!

You’re welcome to enjoy breakfast and lunch at local restaurants at your convenience. In the afternoon, after lunch, we'll begin our return journey to Morelia, aiming to reach the starting point around 11 pm.

Day Trip Accommodation

This tour includes one night's stay at a campsite on Playa Las Peñas. Accommodations will be in tents that can accommodate 2 to 4 people. Solo travelers will share a tent designated for 2. If you are a group of 3, you will get a larger tent for 4. The campsite provides mattresses, but please note it does not include bedding or sleeping bags. Shared bathroom facilities are available.

Humpback Whale Watching

The coast of Michoacán serves as a prime location for observing humpback whales. However, these majestic creatures are unpredictable, and we cannot guarantee sightings. The likelihood of encountering them is influenced by several factors, including weather conditions and the breeding cycles of the species.
