Excursion to Teremendo de los Reyes & Alberca
Our journey begins at 10 am, when our team will collect you from your accommodation in Morelia to travel towards Teremendo de los Reyes.
As we delve into this town, you'll uncover its rich Purepecha heritage and its establishment by Bishop Vasco de Quiroga. A visit to the Church of the Holy Kings will allow us to appreciate its impressive bell tower, while we explore the vibrant celebration held every January 6th in honor of the Three Wise Men.
We will meander through the narrow lanes of Teremendo de los Reyes, bordered by quaint houses crafted from adobe and tiles. Our next stop will be an artisan bakery, where we’ll observe the traditional bread-making process that characterizes the region.
After enjoying some free time for lunch, we'll embark on a 20-minute walk to Alberca de Morelia, one of Michoacán's remarkable volcanic lakes.
As we take in the peaceful surroundings, you will learn about the formation of this crater lake. Marvel at the diverse flora, including white sapote trees, ash trees, cacti, and oaks framing the area. It’s fascinating to note that the lake's water color transforms from dark brown to radiant emerald green throughout the seasons.
In the afternoon, we will make our way back to Morelia, anticipating return to your hotel by 6 pm.
