Description
Embark on an unforgettable adventure as you spend five days exploring the breathtaking southern Galapagos Islands, immersing yourself in their stunning landscapes and unique wildlife. Expect to encounter an array of creatures, including sea lions, iguanas, and an impressive variety of tropical birds.
5 Day Cruise through the Southern Galapagos Islands
Day 1: Arrival at Baltra & North Seymour Islands
Upon your arrival, our team will greet you at the Galapagos Islands Airport located on Baltra Island. From there, we will transfer you to the boat that will navigate around the southern Galapagos archipelago.
Once aboard, we’ll serve lunch while setting course for North Seymour Island. Here, a scenic 2-kilometer (1.2 miles) hiking trail awaits, allowing us to explore the rocky coastlines and observe the diverse bird species, such as frigatebirds and blue-footed boobies. This exploration promises to be an exhilarating beginning to your 5-day journey!
Afterwards, we’ll return to the boat for dinner as we sail towards San Cristobal Island.
Day 2: Discovering San Cristóbal & Lobos Islands
The day breaks over the Pacific paradise. Following breakfast, we will visit Lobos Island, a small island renowned for its large colony of sea lions. Here, you will learn interesting facts about these lively creatures, and you will have the opportunity to snorkel alongside them.
In the afternoon, after enjoying lunch, we’ll venture to Cerro Brujo, situated on the northern shores of San Cristobal Island. This spot holds historical significance as it was once visited by Charles Darwin. You will gain insight into its rich ecosystem while also viewing the remarkable natural monument known as the 'Sleeping Lion', a volcanic cone that hosts frigatebirds and various tropical animals.
The day concludes with dinner on the boat, enabling everyone to recharge for the adventures ahead.
Day 3: Journey to Floreana Island
Your third day will center on Floreana Island, beginning with a visit to the northern region. Here, we’ll explore Punta Cormorant, notable for its two distinct beaches, including one with striking green sand. As we stroll along the shore, we’ll keep an eye out for flamingos, crabs, and other wildlife.
After a lunch on board, we’ll set off to Post Office Bay, where we will delve into the intriguing history of this unique postal facility established in the 18th century. Later, we will rest aboard the boat, gathering strength for the exciting day to come.
Day 4: Exploring Española Island
On Española Island, our exploration begins at Gardner Bay, characterized by its pristine white sandy beach, home to swallow-tailed gulls, hawks, albatrosses, and hooded mockingbirds. Conditions permitting, feel free to take a refreshing swim in its inviting waters.
We will also visit Gardner Island and Osborn Islet. In the afternoon, our adventure continues at Punta Suárez. This location on Española Island highlights why the Galapagos is a key destination for zoology enthusiasts, featuring a rich diverse fauna including iguanas, tortoises, sea lions, lizards, and countless bird species.
As the day wraps up, we’ll enjoy dinner aboard the boat, followed by our journey to Santa Cruz Island.
Day 5: Santa Cruz & Departure from Baltra Islands
At 8:30 am, we will disembark at Santa Cruz Island, where you will encounter the remarkable Santa Cruz tortoises in their natural surroundings—a truly memorable experience!
After five enriching days, we’ll return you to the Galapagos Airport on Baltra Island.
