Sal Island Tour
Description
Embark on an exciting salt island adventure, where you'll explore hidden lagoons and vast salt flats, with the opportunity to swim alongside friendly sharks—the gentle lemon sharks!
Description
Your journey begins with a convenient hotel pickup, taking you to the captivating island of Sal, recognized as a leading destination in Cape Verde for visitors.
During this trip, you'll traverse the volcanic landscape of the island from south to north, stopping at its most remarkable towns and attractions. Our first destination will be Santa Maria, a town that evolved from a salt extraction hub into a major tourist hotspot over the course of just 200 years.
If you join this tour between October and March, we'll then continue to Kite Beach, celebrated for hosting worldwide kitesurfing events. Following that, we will visit the nature reserve at Murdeira Bay, where you'll enjoy exceptional views of Monte Leon.
Next, we’ll make our way to Espargos, the capital and economic core of Sal, and visit Porto Palmeira. In this quaint fishing village, you'll stroll along its vibrant streets and approach the pier to observe the local fishing boats. A meal at a local eatery will provide an authentic taste of Sal Island, featuring meat dishes, pasta, and the catch of the day.
Our journey will then take us to Pedra de Lume, the first settlement established on Sal. Here, you’ll learn about the influence of the salt industry on the local economy and tour its salt flats, the unique site where you can swim in a saltwater lake nestled within a volcanic caldera.
Following this, we will visit Miragem, a desert region of Sal, where you can observe the intriguing illusion of water and salt production within this ecosystem. Next, we’ll head to the Blue Eye, a stunning natural pool. You will enjoy 40 to 60 minutes of leisure time to swim, weather permitting, and to explore a hidden gem known as Love Cellar, a local favorite.
A key highlight of the tour is Shark Bay, offering a close encounter with the lemon sharks.
After seven hours of exploration, we'll return you to your hotel.
