Private 2 Day Tour of Angkor Temples
Day 1
Your journey begins with a pickup from your hotel between 7:45 am and 8 am as we commence our tour of the famed ruins of Siem Reap, delving into the rich history of Cambodia's Khmer Empire.
We will first enter the south gate of Angkor Thom, the emblematic city from which the last Khmer kings ruled before the region fell under Siamese control in the 15th century. Here, you will explore the Baphuon Temple, a Buddhist sanctuary originally dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva, and engage with the intricate bas-reliefs of Bayon Temple.
Next, we will visit Ta Prohm, an ancient Buddhist monastery overtaken by the jungle. Experience the stunning confluence of crumbling Khmer architecture and tropical greenery, a breathtaking view made famous by the film Tomb Raider. Following our exploration at Ta Prohm, a lunch break will offer a pause from the heat of the day.
Rejuvenated after lunch, we will proceed to Angkor Wat, Cambodia's most significant temple and the only one continuously active as a place of worship since its establishment in the 12th century. As we walk through the stunning grounds of the largest religious monument in the world, you will encounter its remarkable carvings and grand avenues.
At the end of Day 1, we will drop you off at your hotel in Siem Reap around 5 pm, giving you a chance to recharge for the next day's adventure.
Day 2
On Day 2, we will pick you up from your hotel at 8 am to continue our exploration of Angkor with a grand tour of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The day's itinerary begins with the Pre Rup Temple, constructed in the 10th century and believed to serve as a site for funeral rites. This temple stands as the only remaining purely Hindu temple in Angkor, with others later converted to Buddhist worship in the 12th century.
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Nullam interdum hendrerit sollicitudin lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. We'll also dive into Ta Som and Preah Khan, discovering further examples of charming Khmer temple architecture intertwined with the lush jungle that surrounds them. As we move along, we will arrive at Neak Paon, a picturesque temple situated on an artificial island.
At 1 pm, we will pause for lunch at a local restaurant, allowing you time to refuel. Following your meal, we will make our way to Banteay Srei, known as the Citadel of Women. This temple, crafted from red sandstone, is characterized by its intricately detailed reliefs, still visible today. As you stroll through its corridors, be sure to appreciate the mythological scenes carved into the lintels and columns.
Our final visit of the day will be to a gallery that displays photographs and information regarding Banteay Srei, highlighting the restoration efforts that have preserved its beauty.
Concluding the tour, we will return you to your hotel in Siem Reap. If desired, you may request your guide to stop at the Akira Landmine Museum, the Angkor Butterfly Centre, or the Palm Sugar Village on the way back to enhance your experience in the area.
