Ushuaia Free Walking Tour
Description
Embark on a complimentary exploration of Ushuaia, the world’s southernmost city, where you’ll delve into its captivating history while soaking in stunning vistas of the Beagle Channel.
Tour Overview
If you've reached the "end of the world" and are eager to explore its past, join us at Plaza Cívica at the agreed time to commence this walking tour through a picturesque city celebrated for its unique geographical position. Let’s set off!
Our journey will start as we stroll towards the Ushuaia port, revealing breathtaking panoramas of the Beagle Channel, towering mountains, and the Patagonian cruise ships that dock here. We’ll then ascend to one of the city’s highest viewpoints, where you'll be able to capture some truly spectacular images.
Next, we'll make our way down to the Italian quarter, one of Ushuaia's earliest neighborhoods. Enjoy wandering through charming wooden houses as we cross the pedestrian bridge leading us to the Colombo neighborhood.
Continuing on, we’ll visit Plaza del Libro, moving through its scenic native forest while sharing stories of the early pioneers and the significance of this site, which pays homage to book lovers and literature.
As we approach the Paseo del Centenario, the ascending stairs will reward us with lovely views over the bay, nestled among the stone pillars of the monument. Each pillar signifies the diverse cultures thriving in Ushuaia.
We will pass the Old Cemetery on our way to Bahía Encerrada, where we’ll enter a natural reserve. Here, we’ll navigate the trails that are ideal for spotting native bird species such as the upland goose, golden plovers, and black-faced ibis.
Along our path, we will come across residential areas like Misión Alta, Naútico, and Aeroclub, the former site of the airport. This complimentary walking adventure culminates at the iconic End of the World sign, allowing you to take the quintessential photo. Nearby, you will find Plaza Malvinas, featuring a cenotaph and a memorial wall dedicated to those who lost their lives during the Falklands War.
After approximately 2.5 hours, we will conclude our exploration either at this landmark or return to our original meeting point.
