Puerto Escondido Day Trip
Description
Join us on an unforgettable day trip to Puerto Escondido from Huatulco, where you can immerse yourself in the beauty of this Oaxacan destination. Experience the vibrant local market, discover the secrets of a chocolate factory, and relax on stunning beaches.
Day Trip Overview
At the scheduled time, you will be picked up from your accommodation in Huatulco and welcomed aboard a comfortable vehicle. Prepare for a scenic 2-hour drive along the coast to reach Puerto Escondido, a true gem in the southern part of Mexico.
Your adventure begins with a visit to a local chocolate factory, where you’ll uncover the age-old methods of cacao processing, from seed to chocolate bar. You’ll have about 30 minutes here, including a delightful tasting experience featuring mezcal, cured meats, mole, sal de gusano, and, of course, chocolate. Did you know that cacao has significant cultural importance in Mesoamerican history?
Next, we’ll make our way to the Benito Juárez market, the bustling heart of Puerto Escondido. You’ll enjoy 1.5 hours of leisure time to explore the stands, capture memorable photos, and shop for local products or Oaxacan crafts. Immerse yourself in the vibrant flavors, aromas, textures, and colors that characterize this lively market.
Additionally, you will have time to enjoy lunch at a traditional restaurant. We’ll recommend the best spots to taste regional dishes, from fresh seafood to the renowned Oaxacan mole. Bon appétit!
After your meal, we’ll proceed to Playa Carrizalillo, one of the most picturesque beaches in Puerto Escondido. Spend an hour in this tranquil bay, where you can swim, sunbathe, or simply soak in the views of the majestic Pacific Ocean. Experience the essence of a hidden paradise!
Our next stop is the well-known Playa Zicatela, a hotspot for surfers globally. Here, you can enjoy another hour walking along the sandy shores, sipping drinks at beachside restaurants, or watching the sunset fade into the ocean.
As the day winds down, you may choose to meander through the charming streets of Adoquín, a Bohemian neighborhood adorned with artisan shops and vibrant nightlife, or opt for an exhilarating turtle release on the beach (available for an additional fee).
Finally, we’ll journey back to Huatulco and conclude this memorable experience at your hotel after approximately 11 hours of adventure.
