Experience a fascinating day exploring the unique stone formations of the Huayllay National Sanctuary, followed by relaxation in the therapeutic waters of a thermal spa at La Calera.

Excursion to Huayllay & La Calera

Your adventure begins at 9 am, when we will collect you from your hotel in Cerro de Pasco to embark on a journey to Huayllay. The one-hour trip will take us through picturesque towns on the Peruvian plains, including Colquijirca and Cochamarca, until we reach the renowned Huayllay National Sanctuary, famous for its immense stone forest.

This natural wonder showcases approximately 4,000 stunning rock formations that have been artistically shaped by the forces of nature, particularly through erosion from wind and water. As we stroll through the park, you'll be captivated by the diverse formations resembling various animals such as the Walker, Elephant, Alpaca, and Turtle. Additionally, this protected area is home to a variety of endemic wildlife, including deer, vicuñas, wild cats, and sparrow hawks.

Following our exploration of the stone forest, we will proceed to the town of Huayllay, where we'll visit its charming Plaza de Armas and a colonial church renowned for its architecture. Next, we will travel approximately 15 minutes to the hot springs of La Calera.

La Calera is celebrated for its mineral-rich waters, containing calcium, potassium, and sodium, with temperatures reaching an impressive 60º Celsius. This natural spa is a popular destination where visitors come to benefit from the therapeutic properties found in the springs.

You will have free time to enjoy the hot springs and have lunch at your leisure. After a day filled with exploration and relaxation, we will return to Cerro de Pasco, where we will drop you off at your accommodation around 3 pm.
