Excursion to the Waterfalls of Tarma & Chanchamayo

Your journey begins with a pick-up from your hotel in La Merced at 8 am, setting the stage for an exploration of the Chanchamayo province.

The first stop will be at the stunning Velo de la Novia de Pan de Azúcar waterfall, noted for its beauty and distinct from another waterfall sharing its name in the Perené Valley. Continuing on, we will pass through the La Virgen tunnel, often referred to as the 'golden door' into the central jungle, leading us to the magnificent Ducha del Diablo waterfall.

Our next destination will be the Yanango and Carpapata viewpoints, where sweeping vistas of the highlands and the lush Peruvian jungle await. This is an ideal setting to appreciate the rich diversity of the Amazonian landscape!

We will then make our way to Acobamba in the Tarma province, where we will visit the National Sanctuary of Muruhuay. This site is dedicated to the Lord of Muruhuay, named after the striking depiction of Jesus Christ painted on a rock.

Additionally, we will explore the Huagapo Cave, one of South America's deepest caves. We will marvel at its impressive stalactite and stalagmite features while learning about the meaning of its Quechua name, which translates to "tears of the mighty."

After our cave exploration, we'll return to Muruhay, allowing you some leisure time for lunch. Finally, we will immerse ourselves in the charming city of Tarma, affectionately called the Pearl of the Andes. Here, a guided tour will lead us through streets adorned with colonial architecture, where we will visit the Plaza de Armas and the Odria Museum.

As the day concludes, we will return to La Merced and drop you off at your hotel after a fulfilling nine-hour adventure.
