Day Trip Details
At the designated time, we will pick you up from the Embassy of Slovakia in Sofia. After departing, we will embark on a 2-hour journey to Plovdiv, located in the southeast of Bulgaria. The city's rich history is evident in its diverse mix of Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman, and Bulgarian cultures, showcased through its stunning buildings and monuments.
Once in Plovdiv, we'll take a guided tour of the ancient city, walking along the cobbled streets and admiring the colorful houses. Key highlights include a visit to the ancient Roman Theatre, an architectural masterpiece, and the Regional Ethnographic Museum.
After exploring Plovdiv, you will have 1 hour for lunch in this historic city, known as the City of the Seven Hills. Following your meal, we will begin our 2-hour journey to the Starosel sanctuary, which dates back to the 5th century B.C. Here, you will encounter the impressive "tholos," a significant monument of the ancient Thracian warrior culture.
Next, we will take a brief trip to the nearby town of Staro Zhelezare, where you can admire the street art murals created by local graffiti artists, addressing various social and global themes. It’s an excellent opportunity for memorable photographs!
