Autisha Canyon Hiking & Abseiling
Descripción
Embark on an adventure through the most profound gorge in western Peru with our hiking and abseiling experience in the Autisha Canyon. Departing from Lima, be prepared for an exhilarating day ahead!
Activity Overview
Our journey begins with a pickup from your chosen location in Lima, followed by a 3.5-hour drive towards the Huarochirí province. Along the way, marvel at the stunning Santa Eulalia Valley as we make our way to the adventure's launch point in the Autisha Canyon. This canyon holds the distinction of being the deepest in this region of Peru.
Upon arrival at a nearby farmhouse nestled by the riverbank, a brief and easy 15-minute hike will lead us to our designated starting point. Here, participants will don their safety gear and receive crucial guidance prior to embarking on their first abseiling experience into the natural tunnels.
The exploration continues as we descend through an exhilarating series of six levels underground. Traverse via stairs and a suspension bridge, illuminating the canyon only with our flashlights as we navigate this stunning environment. The views are sure to captivate!
As we reach the journey's culmination, we will encounter a breathtaking natural wonder: the Shekel Waterfall. For those seeking an extra thrill, there will be an opportunity to abseil down the 90-foot-high (30-meter) canyon walls adjacent to the cascading water.
Following this adventure, we’ll continue our hike out of the canyon to the parking area, where a hearty lunch awaits. Savor traditional Peruvian cuisine before we commence our return journey.
To conclude this memorable outing, we will make a stop in Santa Eulalia to indulge in its renowned homemade ice creams. A delightful way to finish an extraordinary day!
At the end of our excursion, we will return to Lima, arriving back at the meeting point after approximately 13 hours.
