Autisha Canyon Hiking & Abseiling
Description
Embark on an adventure through the deepest gorge in western Peru with our hiking and abseiling experience in Autisha Canyon. Our journey begins in Lima, setting the stage for an unforgettable day!
Activity Overview
After being picked up at your chosen location in Lima, we'll embark on a thrilling 3.5-hour drive towards the Huarochirí province. During our route, we'll traverse the stunning Santa Eulalia Valley before arriving at the launch point for our exploration of the remarkable Autisha Canyon, noted as the deepest canyon in the region.
Upon reaching a nearby farmhouse near the base of the river, we'll kick off a brief and gentle 15-minute hike to reach our abseiling starting point. Here, we’ll equip ourselves with safety gear and receive essential instructions before we initiate our first abseil, entering the natural tunnels.
Your journey will encompass an exhilarating descent through six underground levels. Using stairs and a suspension bridge, you'll navigate the canyon, which is illuminated solely by our flashlights. Prepare to be amazed by the extraordinary views!
As we complete the trail, we will marvel at a breathtaking natural wonder: the Shekel Waterfall. For the adventurous, there’s an opportunity to abseil down the impressive 30-meter (90-foot) canyon walls adjacent to the waterfall!
Next, we will continue our hike as we exit the canyon in order to reach the parking area, where a delicious lunch awaits. Delight in some typical Peruvian cuisine before we commence our return journey.
To conclude this experience, we will make a stop in Santa Eulalia to savor its signature homemade ice creams. A fantastic way to end an extraordinary day!
Afterward, we will return to Lima, concluding our adventure at the meeting point after approximately 13 hours.
