Tour Overview
At the agreed hour, our journey begins at Mirador de El Salvador, where we will embark on an in-depth exploration of Úbeda. It is noteworthy that UNESCO has recognized the historical center as a World Heritage Site. Let us uncover the city’s rich history!
We will start our walk along the Paseo de la Rotonda de los Miradores, leading us to a scenic viewpoint with breathtaking views of the Valle del Guadalquivir. As we navigate the charming narrow streets, you'll encounter the famous Hospital de los Honrados Viejos del Salvador.
Next, we will arrive at Plaza de Vázquez de Molina, where the Palacio del Deán Ortega and the Sacra Capilla del Salvador are located. We will venture inside to appreciate its remarkable interior, a 16th-century chapel that reveals insights into the local culture and intriguing legends.
Continuing on, we will observe the Palacio de Francisco de los Cobos, a tribute to the secretary of state under Emperor Charles V, who significantly contributed to the city's development in the 16th century. His influence remains visible in the exquisite architecture throughout Úbeda.
Afterward, our path takes us to the Gradeta de Santo Tomás, home to the ruins of Saint Thomas the Apostle and the Jewish Houses. Our next destination is the Convento de San Miguel, associated with the Discalced Carmelites. Here, you will gain insight into the challenges faced by St. John of the Cross at this convent. We will also pause at Plaza Primer de Mayo, previously the city’s marketplace and a vital social hub for the residents of Úbeda.
As we make our way back, we will wander along Calle Real, ultimately returning to Plaza de Vázquez de Molina, where we will wrap up our extensive 2.5-hour journey through Úbeda.
