Excursion to Guática & Quinchía

At the agreed time, our team will meet you at your Armenia hotel for a journey northwards towards the Risaralda department. This scenic drive will take approximately three hours, concluding with our first stop in Quinchía.

As we explore this picturesque municipality, often referred to as Villa de los Cerros (Villa of the Hills) due to its hilly landscape, we will visit the renowned Tierras de Xixarca Archaeological Museum. This significant institution showcases fascinating artifacts crafted by the Quimbaya, an indigenous group that thrived in the area until the 16th century.

Our next stop will be at a filigree workshop, where local artisans skillfully create traditional crafts utilizing this intricate goldsmithing technique. Following our workshop visit, a delightful lunch featuring local dishes will be served, including a main course and a beverage. Post-meal, we will continue our route to Guática, taking in the stunning landscapes of northern Risaralda.

This village, founded by indigenous inhabitants in 1638, is famous for its silk production. Members of the community will introduce you to the plants that nourish the silkworms responsible for this exquisite material. Watch as artisans skillfully create textiles by hand from the harvested silk.

You will also have the opportunity for some free time to shop before we make our return to Armenia, where you will be dropped off back at your hotel after approximately 9 hours of exploration.
