Assisi Private Tour
Description
When you opt for the Assisi private tour, you will benefit from an expert English-speaking guide dedicated to sharing insights into the life of Saint Francis of Assisi and elucidating the significance of this remarkable pilgrimage site.
Assisi Private Tour
Your adventure will commence just outside the Basilica of St. Clare. Over the next 3 hours, you’ll stroll through the charming streets of Assisi, pausing to admire the key monuments and any sites that pique your interest.
The first highlights will be the iconic Upper Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi and the Lower Basilica of St. Francis. This sacred space was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000 and stands in tribute to the founder of the Franciscan order, making it an essential visit for anyone exploring the Perugia area.
During approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, we will delve into the numerous chapels that comprise the sanctuary, as well as the crypt that houses the remains of St. Francis.
Next, we will head to the Temple of Minerva, located within the vibrant Piazza del Comune. While it now operates as a church, its roots trace back to the era of the Old Roman Empire, a fascinating aspect you will uncover on this journey.
Following that, we will visit the Chiesa Nuova, a significant worship site built on the grounds of St. Francis’s former family home.
The tour will conclude with a deeper understanding of the rich history of Assisi and the profound impact of St. Francis’s life in this enchanting Italian town.
