Whale Watching in Bahía Solano
Description
Embark on a captivating whale-watching adventure in Bahía Solano, where you'll have the opportunity to observe the largest marine mammals found in the Colombian Pacific. This experience promises to be truly unforgettable!
Whale Watching in Bahía Solano
Upon making your reservation, you'll have the choice between two tour durations. Both options commence at Carrera 2 in Bahía Solano, located in the tourist district of Ciudad Mutis, at the scheduled meeting time.
5-hour tour
We kick off the journey with a short introductory presentation regarding humpback whales at our meeting point. From there, we'll proceed to the Ciudad Mutis beach to board our vessel. Should the tide be low, transportation will be provided via tuk-tuk or minibus to the Bahía Solano dock.
As we navigate the waters of the Colombian Pacific, expect to uncover fascinating insights about these massive creatures. Weather permitting, we will use a hydrophone to listen to the underwater calls of the whales. Our search will also include sightings of various other marine life, such as dolphins, turtles, sailfish, sharks, and seabirds.
A delicious snack will be provided on board, which includes refreshing lemonade or iced tea, paired with cheese bread or a croissant.
After 3 to 4 hours of captivating whale observations, we will return to our starting location. The total duration of the activity typically ranges from 4 to 5 hours, depending on tidal conditions.
8-hour tour
For those selecting this extended option, the adventure continues post the 5-hour tour itinerary as we proceed to Playa Mecana. With high tides, we will navigate towards the mouth of the Mecana River, where we can admire a vibrant mangrove ecosystem rich with wildlife. If the tide is low, we'll disembark on the seashore and trek to the Mecana River.
The journey leads us to visit the home of two members from the Mecana community for a traditional lunch, featuring fresh fish, patacones or cassava, rice, salad, and soup.
After a leisurely lunch along the riverbank, get ready for some fun! We will go tubing down the Mecana River.
Concluding our tubing experience, we will then head back to the original meeting point. As with the previous tour, the overall duration is subject to tidal variations.
